Kappus Farms is committed to saving the environment and to food safety
Nowhere else can you be sure to get the safest and freshest fruit, but for the fruit that you select yourself, right off the tree at Kappus Farms.
At Kappus farms, we use the most advanced environmentally friendly fruit propagation methods that are available in the world. Our goal is to maintain product safety, worker safety and to continually preserve the environment by using the latest technological advances in fruit growing.
Here are a few examples of the latest techniques we use:
- Spray trees with a derivative of grape juice to deter birds from
attacking the fruit.
- Spray the cherries with a mild solution of salt to help prevent cherries from cracking.
- Mow the grass short to keep insects and rodents away from the trees.
- Use perfumed cling free clothes dryer strips to keep the deer from nibbling on the branches.
- Put twist ties on trees with moth pheromones that blanket the orchard and prevent male moths from finding a mate.
- Use very specific biotech sprays that target only one insect species and do not harm beneficial or non threatening insects.
- Use startling cannons and bird distress call recorders to keep birds from eating too many cherries.
- Chop pruning brush instead of burning to help prevent air pollution.
- Instruct our workers to follow specific rules for safety and hygiene to prevent injuries and contamination. of our products.
- Only use city water that is inspected for drinking water for the irrigation of our fruit
- Use many more safety and environmental practices too numerous and complex to explain here!
